When you supervise other lawyers or paralegals on your team, there is no more powerful way to improve their performance and motivation than to provide prompt, effective coaching and feedback. Yet, many supervising lawyers shy away from coaching and feedback because they think it will take too much time, do little good, or lead to painful conversations that damage a working relationship. This program will show you how to provide effective coaching in ways that produce better work and strengthen the relationship.

- how to spot and create opportunities for on-the-fly coaching
- the keys to providing critical feedback constructively, without provoking defensiveness
- a simple, flexible approach to organizing a feedback conversation

The session will be led by Tim Leishman, a principal of Firm Leader Inc. A former partner in a leading Canadian law firm, Tim has been training lawyers to improve their leadership and managerial skills for more than 20 years. He will draw on his research interviews with several hundred lawyers who are widely regarded in their firms and organizations to be outstanding supervisors and leaders.
